  • Report on International students exchange activities in 2012

    This program starated in April and we conducted ten events until November.

    154 students from 29 countries and 7 universities participated and, the total number of participants reached 693, including 539 Japanese.

    Please see the report of each activity shown below.

 * Tokyo Metro Tour 2

held on November 10 (Sat), 2012

This event was attended by 18 international students from 8 different countries, as well as 16 Japanese.
Participants explored the attractive town areas in Tokyo, such as Korakuen, Tsukiji and Kappabashi. After the tour, they made original maps of Tokyo, to share the experience.


 * Home Visit 2 for International Students

held in the afternoon on October 27 (Sat), 2012

Six Japanese families received 14 international students in their house.

<Voice of participants>
・We talked at their house, we enjoyed talking to the point and we forgot the time limit. We liked every thing they gave us and we appreciate their kindness. For me, it is the first time I see a real Japanese house. I am impressed.
・Visiting a Japanese family in their home was very exciting for me. We talked about japanese traditions and culture.
・Japan has unique culture for his own traditions and customs. This activity is a big chance for us to explore some Japanese traditional style.
・I think MIFA is great and this home visit benefit me a lot. Thank you very much!


* Int'l student cultural ambassador presentation - Spanish cooking

Theme: - Vamos a cocinar! rico, rico!
held on October 13 (Sat), 2012 10:00-14:00
Venue: Cooking Room, Midorigaoka Bunka Kaikan, Meguro-ku

Menu: Paella, Totilla, Gazpacho, Churros con chocolate

This event was attended by 34 people.

* Try on Yukata and join the festival

held on September 1 (Sat), 2012 13:00-18:00
Venue: MIFA - Kumano Shinto Shrine, Jiyugaoka - MIFA

Contents: Students borrowed YUKATA, a summer cotton kimono, and tried it on.
Then they visited Kumano Shinto Shrine located in Jiyugaoka, where the chief priest explained
the Shrine and a Shintoism. They also enjoyed the autumn festival held in the area.

This event was attended by 28 people, including 15 international students.

* Japanese cooking event

Let's cook Japanese food together and make new friends through cooking!

held on July 28 (Sat), 2012 10:00-14:00
Venue: Cooking Room, Midorigaoka Bunka Kaikan, Meguro-ku

Menu : Sushi Roll (Kazarimakizushi), Miso soup of a little clam, Cold Tofu with Yamagata-dashi, Chicken Nanban (Halal meat used)

This event was attended by 31 people, including 20 international students.

Menu: Green Curry with Rice, Green Papaya Salad, Lab Moo, Bua Loi, Lemongrass Tea

* Home Visits for International Students

held in the afternoon on June 23 (Sat) 2012

Seven Japanese families received 15 international students in their house.

<Voice of participants>
-These kind of activities help us to adapt in Japanese lifestyle
-The hosts were very nice and lead us to a quite meaningful talk about the relationship between Japan and my country, which definitely reinforce the mutual understanding between us.

* Let's Go to See Sky Tree

* By a water-bus, let's go to Asakusa & SkyTree!
Viewing the SkyTree from the water-bus, and walking around Asakusa.

Held on June 2 (Sat), 2012, 10:00-16:00

This event was attended by 23 international students from 14 different countries as well as 19 volunteers.
