4¡¥Assistance for Foreigners at Times of Disaster

¡¡¡¡A ¡ÈQ&A Manual for Helping Foreign Residents in Disasters¡É is designed to prepare support groups
and volunteers who wish to promptly answer key questions that they may be asked by foreign residents
in case of earthquakes or other disaster situations.
The manual is available in Japanese, English, Chinese, Korean, and Tagalog. The questions and answers
are listed by category, including evacuation, first aid, food supply, communication and information, daily
living, essential utilities, residence, paperwork and official documents, mental-health care, and more.
Use as your reference to give the best support to foreigners in disaster situations.

6. Multilingual Volunteers at times of Disaster¡¡¡ÊSource: Meguro City Website)
Meguro City is seeking volunteers who could undertake activities at times of disaster using thieir
linguistical skillls to assist residents of Meguro who do not understand Japanese.
Please make an inquiry at MIFA if you are interested.


Report:¡ãRelief Fund for Nepal and Vanuatu¡ä
We conducted fund-raising in May onward and at MIFA bazaar for Vanuatuans who suffered
from a cyclone on March 13, 2015 and Nepalese who suffered from an earthquake on April 25, 2015.
The collected 100, 000 yen has been donated to Vanuatu and Nepal through Japan UNICEF
Association on March 30, 2016 as follows.
¡¦Natural Disaster Emergency Fund:¡ï50,000 to assist Vanuatu, Myanmar, etc.
¡¦Great Nepalese Earthquake Emergency Fund¡ï50,000 to assist Nepal.

¢£We visited the former Earthquake Learning Center at Meguro Disaster Prevention Center
and learned what to prepare for a disaster, how to act in case of an earnthuake, how to escape
from smoke, where to evacuate, how to give first aid, how to use AED, etc
