One of the biggest local festivals in Meguro, Meguro Kumin Matsuri will be held in September. As part of it, at Meguro no Sanma Matsuri (Pacific Saury Festival), 5,000 Pacific sauries are delivered from Kesennuma, Miyagi prefecture, which is a friendship city of Meguro. They are grilled over charcoal fire and served for free with kabosu (citrus fruit) grown in Usuki, Oita prefecture, There will be also Furusato Bussanten (regional specialties exhibit), Omatsuri Hiroba (festival plaza), and Kodomo Hiroba (children’s plaza).
