Purpose | Japanese language classes have been held for foreign students living at the Komaba International House since 1971. We have several small classes, from beginner to advanced levels according to the needs of the learners. Additionally, social functions such as a “City Walk Event” is also held other than the Japanese lessons once a week. |

Activities | “Ipil ipil” is a woman’s volunteer group that keeps wide range of human resources development, recovery from war and disaster in the affected area, other humanitarian activities in Japan and other countries. After the earthquake in 2011, we keep planting cherry trees called “Tree of Hope” as a symbol of recovery from the disaster in the stricken area. With over 10-year experience of planting cherry trees in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the project has been stared from Kesennuma, Miyagi prefecture since November, 2011. We presented trees at four cities in Iwate prefecture. Planting is to be planed at the end of April, 2013 in Fudai, Iwate prefecture. |
