Date & Time:14:00-16:30 Saturday, February 22, 2025
Place: Nakameguro Square
Attendees: 15 ppl (China, USA, Panama, Canada, Taiwan, Italy, France, Malta, Sweden)
Started with a presentation about "Wagashi" and demonstration by the teacher.
Participants tried making a basic Nerikiri called "Temari 手毬" and their original one. It looks like a clay art, isn't it?!
As you can imagine, bitterness of green tea pairs well with sweetness of Nerikiri.
At the last part of the cooking, the teacher gave us some tips to brew delicious tea.

Thank you very much for the wonderful lesson. I enjoyed meeting the instructors and attendees.
It was a really fulfilling event! It is difficult for foreigners to experience Japanese culture and traditions in their own lives unless they are married and living with Japanese people, so it was a very valuable experience to learn Japanese culture by an expert and to make wagashi by ourselves! Thank you all for your arrangement and support.

It was a simply heartwarming event. Not only participants but also staff member seemed to enjoy the moment, which I believe is an important element of organizing the event.
Nerikiri making class is one of the face-to-face events organized by MIFA.
Compared to the other events, this event was not so long but I think it is very good because both participants and volunteer teams can interact with each other.
I’m happy to talk with the volunteers and the teacher, too.
